So, I went and did it, after months and months of dying to get the Olympus Pen, I took the plunge and finally got the bloggiest camera in all the land.
And look, isn’t it beautiful?
I was just so tired of carrying my DSLR to events with me, I was getting frustrated at not being able to take flat lays and focus properly, but most of all, I WANTED TO SELFIE.
I’m still getting used to this little beauty, I’ve still not had chance to play with all the features yet, but I’m hoping in a few weeks I’ll have got a hang of it and faffed about with all the different filters and art modes so I can then come back and write about things I’ve learnt about the camera.
Olympus Pen E-PL7 Specs:

- Crop Sensor
- Live MOS
- Video
- Detachable Flash
- 357 gram
- Changeable lens
- LCD touchscreen
- Automatic ‘selfie mode’
- Built in Wifi to transfer images to smart phones
Connect to your phone via Wifi.
You can connect this camera to your phone via wifi. This enables you to use your phone as a remote to take photos or you can save photos to you camera phone, which is amazing because HELLO INSTAGRAM. But getting it to connect SUCKED.
I searched and searched and searched and nothing gave me the answer. The phone was telling me it was connected. The camera was telling me it was connected. Lying dicks.
I finally got it working by going into the actual settings of the camera, clicking ‘wifi’ and making the connection ‘private’. Phew.
I’ve been researching this camera a lot, but want thing I couldn’t find – any photographs that were actually taken with the Olympus Pen E-PL7. So to put you out of your misery, here are some unedited photos I’ve taken with it:
If you have any questions about the camera, do let me know and I’ll try to answer it in a few weeks when I’ve learnt more about it!

Such a gorgeous camera, and so similar to my Sony A5000, I love the selfie mode, that flip screen makes all the difference! There are so many features I just can’t get my head around them all, I need to practice so much with it but the lighting sucks so bad in my house, everything’s yellow and gross so even good pictures come out looking crappy! Even the lights on my photo box are yellow toned – I can’t win!
You’re going to have so much fun pulling this out at events!

I got this camera for Christmas and I’m so pleased I’m not the only one who struggled with connecting it to the wifi! Amazing other than that though.

Is this any good in low light? I was speaking to a blogger the other day who mentioned that it was great for vlogging but awful for events because it wasn’t good in low light, but she hadn’t had it very long.
I got this camera in Nov largely for the good stuff id heard about the app and how good it was but I had the EXACT same problems connecting it to my phone. To the brink of me almost returning it as faulty. Honestly drove me insane. Now it works like a dream and I dont know what was wrong with me, its so easy to use. But yeh as you said, not a stitch of info about it online – no blogs, articles or even youtube vids and there are youtube vids for EVERYTHING!xx

I love my E-PL7! I’ve got 3 lenses for it now and think they’re all great… My latest lens is the 60mm macro lens.
I love the fact I can send the photos direct to my phone while I’m out and about or away.
I hope you enjoy it! 🙂
Hi, I’ve been really wanting this camera for a little while now and think I am in love! I was just wondering though – does it get dirty easily? Just because, even though the exterior is stunning, I can imagine the odd scuff or make-up-off-your-hand stain happening really easily? Thank you!
Hi, I absolutely love this camera and believe it could be the one for me. I kind of have an odd question though, which is how does it do with moving shots? I ask because I have two pups who I really want to take photos of and it’s a big deciding factor in what camera I buy. I would love your opinion on it. Thank you.
I’ve just bought it too and am struggling to kee the wifi connection. It seems to need to be reset each time? Surely that can’t be right? Help!
